Royal Collonges, a 4yo half brother by Fragrant Mix to star grade 1 chaser Neptune Collonges is due to make his eagerly awaited debut in the UK this month.
Purchased by Sean Tiernan for owner Mr. Aland and Ann Potts in France in early 2009, this smashing grey will run for Champion trainer Paul Nicholls , and while hopes are high of a winning start, this horse surely has a future in the chasing game.
In a recent interview with ATR, Mr. Nicholls hinted that Royal Collonges has already schooled very well and would be more than capable of going chasing already, however a spin over the smaller obstacles will probably be his first run.
Royal Collonges has already run once over hurdles in France, finishing a staying on 3rd in a competitive hurdle race at Pau. From pau the horse came back to the yard at Garryhack House where he settled in well and was prepared to go into training with Mr. Nicholls. Interestingly from that race in France, the 4th placed horse, Al Co, has since joined the ranks at Jackdaws Castle for Jonjo O' Neill and performed well on his British debut finishing 3rd in a calss 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham last April.
Royal Collonges will carry the colours of owners Mr. Alan and Ann Potts, who with Sean have purchased many high class individuals over the past year. Their 1st runner in France was a winning one, with Indigo Blue, and hopes are high that Royal Collonges can continue a winning partnership.
Best wishes to all connections and fingers crossed that this smashing grey can live up to and maybe surpass the performances of his half brother Neptune Collonges.
