River of Success continues to flow for trainer Tom Cooper and Owners Valerie and Eamon Courtney
PEAK BLOODSTOCK Ltd capped a good day at the track when adding River Liane to their list of winners for the day, following hot on the heels of the scintilating performance of “The last Derby” in Ascot.
River Liane, 3rd in the 2009 renewal of the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown, was having his first run today over the larger obstacles and dutifully stepped up to the mark, completing a double in the week for his owners Valerie and Eamon Courtney and trainer Tom Cooper, having been successful earlier with their bumper winner Rossdara.
This 5yo son of River Bay, has already shown winning ways over hurdles but now is aiming to follow in the footsteps of his stable mate “ Forpadytheplasterer” and capture some big races over fences.
Ridden today by “Slippers” Madden, he was given a lovely introduction to chasing and never raced out of the first 5 horses throughout the journey. His jumping was accurate and he showed his athletic ability by being able to pop a few when necessary.
Bought by Sean Tiernan through his private connections in France, River Liane added to the growing list of exciting novice chasers in Ireland at the moment and is a horse with serious potential.
Already rated 145 over hurdles, River Liane is typical of the horses coming from France through these connections, good looking, sound, scopey athletic horses with a racing attitude and their future looks bright for this season and the seasons ahead.
