NEW ARRIVALS
We currently have many new quality horses, recently arrived from France, in our yard in Garryhack House and we invite you to visit at any time. Our evolving relationship with our French contacts combined with our extensive research and in depth study of every horse’s pedigree and the thorough inspections carried out by our vets before we buy, ensures only the best horses are purchased at the best possible price. Our veterinary inspections include digital x rays and video scopes, which are sent to a prolific third party Belgium clinic for examination. This same attention to detail is also provided should you wish to sell a horse. This means that we have and will continue to have a selection of quality horses for sale through our Irish yard throughout the year.
EXERCISING
One of the main benefits of coming to Garryhack House to see our horses for sale, is that we provide the option of sitting up and riding them. This option has proven very popular as it allows perspective clients to get a feel for the horse that they may be interested in. We have also recently fitted Easy Fix hurdles so that you can see our young horses jump free in the arena or you can pop a horse over a hurdle yourself.

French Bred: The AQPS
We are frequently asked many questions regarding the French AQPS breed as it is a topic of discussion in the NH field for many trainers and owners. While we do not claim to have all the answers to your questions, perhaps we can throw some light on the topic.
An AQPS horse - the French acronym designates horses other than thoroughbreds – is one bred in France and that is at least 87.5 per cent thoroughbred. The breed produces a variety of jumpers by crossing three-quarter thoroughbreds, or Selle Francais horses, with thoroughbreds. AQPS horses currently account for about one-third of jump race entries in France. AQPS horses are the result of a meticulous selection process for breeding stock, based on conformation, jumping ability and longevity.
Successful AQPS horses from 2007 include:
Neptune Collonges Nenuphar Collonges Naiad du Misselot
Miko du Beauchene My Way de Solzen Pauillac
Pomme Tiepy L ‘ami Garde Champetre
The above are just some examples of the AQPS breed. According to records they stand training and racing longer, are naturally good jumpers and can be thorough stayers. They typically begin their careers in specialised AQPS flat races for 3-4yo, very much like our bumpers, from which they progress to the normal NH programme. These horses tend not to mature until they are 5 or 6yo.

Wishing you all the best of fortune over the season...
